THE INSTITUTION 

Orissa School of Mining Engineering, Keonjhar is a 50 years old Government Institution of National repute under Government of Orissa, Industries Department. The Institution was started in the year 1956 to impart Diploma education   in Mining Engineering, being only one in the state as well as the Eastern Region. In the year 1986-88,   the institution diversified by adding Diploma education in Mechanical,    Education in Mechanical,   Electrical & Drilling Engineering & subsequently in 1992, Metallurgical Engineering was introduced in this institution under World Bank assisted project.

LOCATION : The campus of Orissa School of Mining  Engineering is located in Keonjhar, the district Headquarters town. On N.H. No.-6. The Place is well connected with Calcutta (354 KMs.), Sambalpur (230 KMs.),Tata (174 KMs.) Rourkela (217KMs.) & Bhubaneswar (235 KMs.). Nearest Rail head is Jajpur Keonjhar Road (115 KMs.). Keonjhar town is the most convenient base for visiting the places of interest in the district, which possesses the heritage of Orissa's rich past with green forests, colorful wildlife, natural landscapes, exuberant waterfalls & rich mineral deposits.

THE INFRASTRUCTURE  The Institution has classrooms, modern & high tech. Lab. Workshop, LRUC with the World Bank assistance for     Technical    education. Most of the teaching & supporting staff have already been trained in various industrial organizations & have acquired up-to-date   practical knowledge in their branches. Modern & sophisticated Lab. Equipment , teaching aids along with facilities like high tech. computer aids are available after modernisation of the discipline under World Bank technician project.
